•  Letter to the Editor (Mar 12, 2006 Bloomington Pantagraph) - Fabulous CATsNAP super-vet, Dr. Reid, goes above and beyond for the cats!  CATsNAP offers support to Sterile Feral and other groups who need spay/neuter help in order to help as many cats as possible.  It’s nice to see how cooperation truly can make a difference throughout central Illinois.
   
•  Chicago Tribune article (Feb 14, 2006) highlights legislation HB4464 for the imposition of fines for humane organizations violating Illinois law.  Legislation co-written by CATsNAP board member and PACT Humane Society board member and sponsored by House Representative Patricia R. Bellock.

Laws & Ordinances

State laws and local ordinance information

• Animal Control Act - State law about animals running at large and the requirement of rabies vaccinations.
• Animal Welfare Act - State law that covers inspection and licensure of facilities that produce or offer animals for sale or adoption.
• Anna's Law
- (Public Act 094-0639) New legislation about a statewide spay/neuter program
• Humane Care for Animals' Act - State law about care that owners must provide for their companion animals.  Per Illinois law, owners must provide cats, dogs, and horses with (a) wholesome, good quality food and water, (b) adequate shelter, (c) veterinary care as needed, and (d) humane care and treatment.  Owners may be charged with a class B misdemeanor for failing to provide any one of the above.  Subsequent offenses are felonies.

•  Ordinances Governing Champaign County - Cats and dogs 4 months and older must be vaccinated for rabies and registered with the animal control office; cats and dogs are not permitted to run at large.
